New-wave musician and writer Jim Carroll passed away on Friday in his New York apartment. According to ex-wife Rosemary Carroll, the cause of death was a heart attack. Carroll was 60 years old.
Known best for his 1978 memoir The Basketball Diaries, Carroll and his band also provided the soundtrack for the movie of the same name that starred Leonardo DiCaprio. Included in this soundtrack were hits "People Who Died" and "Catholic Boy." Carroll will remain in music history for years to come.
