It's been a while since the states have seen a sizable tour from Australia's finest jammers the John Butler Trio. The trio will be hitting the road across the USA early this summer in support of their upcoming album April Uprising which will be in stores in the US on April 6th. Supporting the trio will be neo-jazz virtuosos Medeski Martin & Wood for a portion of the tour and Dispatch side-project State Radio for the rest of the dates. For those not familiar with John Butler's music, it is very socially and politically conscious, but thanks to the astounding musicianship of all three players, their sound is full and energetic. Butler is a 12-string guitar wizard and if you don't believe me, check out this fully improvised tune "The Ocean" below.
