New Bowery Presents: Boston

Bowery Presents, the same entertainment group that brought New York such venues as the Bowery Ballroom, the Mercury Lounge, and the Music Hall of Williamsburg, is now teaming up with Boston's new Royale on Tremont Street to book many of the same acts that pass through New York. This is terrific news for the Boston music scene, which can now add one more club that books up and coming bands in an intimate atmosphere. The first Bowery Presents show will be April 22nd and will feature Karl Denson's Tiny Universe. Other acts that are already booked include Broken Bells, Deerhunter, and CocoRosie. Be sure to make it over to Royale this spring to see some of the best live talent in a great new setting.

The Shins' James Mercer and Danger Mouse Form Broken Bells

The Shins' frontman James Mercer and collaborative genius Danger Mouse have teamed up to form a new group called Broken Bells. The two first met face to face backstage at the 2004 Roskilde Festival in Copenhagen and decided to write some songs together. The two are planning to release their first self-titled full-length album on March 9th. Mercer will supply vocals, guitar, and bass, while Danger Mouse will be on drums, organ, synth, piano, and bass duties. Some songs will also feature a full string ensemble arranged by Daniele Luppi. Lets wait and see, Broken Bells could be 2010's Gnarls Barkley.
